Ficus Benjamina trunk chop experiment
This is an experiment that I began in 2007 by trunk chopping relatively large ficus trees and then grafting branches on to them. One is a couple years ahead of the other.

Not a very good pic to introduce this tree to the site with; this is just after suffering frost damage to about 60% of the foliage. Regardless, you can see that what started as a small twig graft grew into a bushy canopy. I need to graft more branches lower down the trunk.

This is how the other one started out. This one has great nebari and a nice taper - could work out well once more grafts are in place.
